Jacob Albee -- Meteorite Jewelry

From November 28 through the New Year, Jacob Albee will be exhibiting his amazing jewelry in the Gallery at Designer Gold. Nationally known for the work he has done with meteorite, Jacob has developed his own method of shaping meteorite, which is a very brittle metal -- nickel-iron -- and which isn't shaped the same way other precious metals are. You will be able to see several examples of this wonderful skill in our gallery in necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pendants, rings and more.

This bangle is lined with 18 karat yellow gold. It has 24 karat gold inlay, one ruby and several diamonds set into the meteorite.

It is a pleasure for us to be able to exhibit so much of Jacob's beautiful work during this Holiday Season. And it will be a rare treat for you to come in and see what he has done with this surprising material. To the left is one of his bangles and below is his Galileo cuff bracelet.

Jacob grew up in the Upper Valley, in Strafford, VT, and was introduced to jewelry-making at Hanover High School. Jewelry was destined to be only a hobby, Jacob recounts, but after working several summers during college with Timothy Grannis, jewelry artist in Burlington, Jacob's hobby grew into a full-time career.

After finishing his degree at UVM in ornithology, Jacob went to work for Timothy full-time for several years before striking out on his own. He opened a studio in Burlington, and his wife, Kristin, began managing the business while he made the jewelry. They make a great team both in the studio and in raising their two children, Axel and Noël.
