Designer Gold is thrilled to announce we are now representing Michael Stoffel's beautiful jewelry at The Gallery. A native of Germany, Michael just recently visited us in Hanover. He brought a collection of his jewelry for us to display at Designer Gold --and Allegra just put it out in one of our cases. Come, see his amazing jewelry.
Michael's jewelry education began in 1985 as an apprentice goldsmith at Sévigné Jewelers in Munich, Germany. After 7 years at Sévigné Jewelry, he attended the State Academy of Art Hanau in Germany and received his master's title and national certification in jewelry design. In 1995, Michael left Germany for New Mexico and later upstate New York, where he worked as a self-employed goldsmith contracting for a number of jewelry companies making one-of-a-kind jewelry. While in upstate New York, Michael also taught jewelry classes at the Art Center in Troy, New York. In 2006, Michael moved back to Germany to work once again at Sévigné Jewelers. After two years at Sévigné Jewelers, he established a gallery and workshop in Grafing (Southeast of Munich), Germany that specialized in repairs and one-of-a-kind jewelry.
Michael's work reflects his long time fascination with the ancient art and jewelry of the Egyptian, Etruscan and Celtic cultures. Mirroring his interest in ancient design, Michael utilizes traditional jewelry methods of chasing and repoussé to create gracefully curving structures. Delicate round granules enliven the surface, while natural gemstones provide touches of color. Each piece is delicately brush-finished, creating soft luminous textures that seem to emanate light.
The superior craftsmanship and attention to detail in Michael's work is best seen in person. Please stop by the Gallery at Designer Gold to admire it yourself!
